Capture anything you can open in a tab
One button, four extractors. The extension picks the right one from the page you are on and turns it into Markdown with the source URL attached. Everything lands in the same library, alongside the PDFs, images, and notes you add from the web app and iOS.

Your AI conversations, kept as text you own
A good conversation with ChatGPT or Claude is worth keeping, and it is the hardest thing on the web to keep. It lives behind your login, it has no share sheet, and a copy-paste loses who said what. The extension captures the conversation that is open in the tab, every turn labelled by speaker, code blocks intact, into your library as Markdown with the source URL, so the same context is readable by you and by any other AI you connect over MCP.
- Open the conversation on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok.
- Click the Sensefold icon in the toolbar, then Capture this page.
- Read the summary, adjust the tags if you like, and press Save.

Shortened, invented example. Labels follow the source: a Claude capture reads You / Claude, a ChatGPT capture reads You said / ChatGPT said.
What it does not do: it does not read a chat export ZIP, it does not watch your chat history in the background, and it does not add a button inside ChatGPT or Claude. One conversation per click, always the one you are looking at.
Review before you save
Capture is a preview, not a commit. The panel shows the extracted text, an AI summary, and suggested tags; you can edit the tags and read the extracted text before anything enters your library. The preview does not spend credits. Only Save does, because Save is when enrichment runs.
Already saved? When the page you are on is already in your library, the panel says so: the button becomes Re-capture for a fresh version, and an Open in Sensefold link takes you to the item in the web app. You do not end up with duplicates by accident.
After saving, a local deck keeps your recent captures one click away in the panel, and the item is already synced to the web app, iOS, and Mac.
Highlight and annotate, per site
Turn on the highlighter for a site, select text, and save it as a highlight or as a quoted comment on the saved page. A page comment can be added to any saved page from the side panel. Highlights and comments are part of the item: they show up with it in the apps and travel with it in your Markdown export.
The highlighter is explicit and per site. It runs only on the sites you enable it for, where it checks whether the page is already in your library and restores your marks when you come back. You can turn it off for any site at any time, and outside those sites it does not run.
Markdown, always
Every capture is normalized to Markdown, and you never need Sensefold to get at it. Copy as Markdown in the panel puts any capture or note on your clipboard as plain text, ready for Obsidian, a Git repo, or a document. The same button exists in the iPhone and iPad app.
The whole library exports as a Markdown ZIP from the web app: one file per item with front matter, plus your highlights and comments. It costs no credits, and it is the same format your AI reads over MCP at https://api.sensefold.app/mcp.
Privacy and permissions, exactly as shipped
The extension ships without an all-sites content script. Site access is an optional permission: the first time you choose Capture or turn on the highlighter, the extension shows a disclosure and Chrome asks once for access to pages on all websites. Chrome remembers the answer, and you can revoke it in Chrome’s extension settings. This is enforced by the browser’s permission model, not by a policy.
Only after you choose Capture does it read the active page’s URL, title, domain, readable content, and an available thumbnail; on supported YouTube pages, the transcript the page provides. While the side panel is open, and only after you have accepted the disclosure, it sends the current page’s address to Sensefold to show whether that page is already saved. On the sites where you enabled the highlighter, it runs when those pages load to restore your marks. Outside Capture and those sites, it does not read page content.
Sign-in uses your Sensefold account through Clerk; the extension reads the session cookie only from Sensefold’s own Clerk host, never from other websites. Your content is not used to train models and is not sold. The full text is in the privacy policy and the subprocessors list.

Which sites does the Sensefold extension work on?
Any page with readable text can be captured. Dedicated extractors handle threads on X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Hacker News (with replies), YouTube watch pages (with the transcript the page provides), and conversations on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok. A capture reflects what is rendered in your tab, including content behind a login or subscription you already have.
How do I save a ChatGPT conversation as Markdown?
Open the conversation in Chrome, click the Sensefold toolbar icon, and choose Capture this page. The side panel shows the summary and suggested tags; press Save. The chat is stored as speaker-labelled Markdown with the source URL, and Copy as Markdown puts the same text on your clipboard. Each click captures the one conversation open in the tab; there is no ZIP import and nothing runs in the background.
Where does what I capture go?
Only after you choose Capture, the page text is sent over HTTPS to Sensefold to build the preview, summary, and tags; when you choose Save it is stored in your library and synced to the web app, iOS, and Mac. Nothing is read from a page you did not capture, your data is never used to train models or sold, and the processors involved are listed on the subprocessors page.
Is the extension free?
The extension is free, and so is saving to your library. AI work on what you save (summaries, tags, OCR, transcripts) runs on credits that come with a Starter or Pro plan, and every new subscription starts with a 14-day free trial with a card on file. The summary preview you see before saving does not spend credits.
Why not just keep a folder of Markdown files?
A folder of Markdown files, kept by hand or by a local tool such as Basic Memory or a self-hosted Supermemory, is a good archive, and the Markdown ZIP you can export from Sensefold is exactly that. What the extension and the library add on top: one-click capture of threads, transcripts, and AI chats; automatic summaries, tags, and OCR; realtime sync to iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web; a remote MCP server your AI reaches with OAuth from any machine; and versioned, revertible writes when an agent edits a note.
Does it work in Firefox, Safari, or on my phone?
Chrome today, installed from the Chrome Web Store. On iPhone and iPad the Sensefold app captures pages, PDFs, and images from the share sheet; AI-chat capture is a Chrome-only feature. On a Mac, the desktop app reads and searches the same library.
