Billing questions, answered plainly
Is there a free plan?
No. Saving items to your library is free; the AI work — summaries, tags, OCR, document and video processing — runs on credits, which come with a Starter or Pro subscription or a one-time credit pack. New subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial that includes 800 credits, so you can try everything before you are charged.
How does the free trial work?
The trial lasts 14 days and includes 800 AI credits. A card is required to start it, and it is available once per account. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and the first payment is charged then. You can cancel anytime — from your Sensefold account settings for web subscriptions, or from your Apple subscription settings for App Store subscriptions.
What's the difference between Starter and Pro?
Credits and storage. Starter is $16/month ($160/year) with 7,000 AI credits a month and 2 GB of storage; Pro is $36/month ($396/year) with 20,000 credits and 20 GB. Every feature — all capture sources, automatic enrichment, MCP access, Markdown export — is in both.
What do AI credits pay for?
Only AI processing: enrichment — automatic summaries, tags, and OCR — plus document and video processing. Saving an item to your library is free and never spends a credit.
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly credits do not roll over — they reset at the start of each billing period. Credits from a pack are different: they never expire and are only spent after your monthly credits run out.
Do I need a subscription to buy a credit pack?
No. Anyone can buy a 5,000-credit pack for $16, with or without a subscription, and buy as many as you need. Pack credits never expire.
Does using Sensefold from Claude, ChatGPT, or another agent cost extra?
No. MCP access is included in Starter and Pro — there is no separate agent plan or seat. When an agent saves a link or a note through MCP, enrichment runs after capture just like any other save, so it spends credits the same way as a save from the app or the extension.
Should I subscribe on the web or in the App Store?
Either — your library is the same everywhere. Prices may vary by platform (App Store vs. web). Your first subscription on the web adds 2,000 permanent credits that never expire. App Store subscriptions follow Apple's refund policy; web subscriptions through Stripe may be refunded within 14 days of purchase if you have not used a significant portion of your credits — email support@sensefold.app.
